What Causes Light Periods With Cramps?

i m 14 and usually my periods are kind of heavy, but for the past four months they have been extremely light, like i can t even use a tampon because they are so light. i haven t lost any weight and i don t have an eating disorder. i haven t really changed my diet at all. i m not sexually active and i don t take birth control. sometimes i just have excruciating cramps and don t even get a period.. its just spotting. should i get checked out?

Hi,
At your age, it is common to have varying cycles as the hormone balance is yet to get on track and tends to make adjustments frequently. If there is no other accompaniment, you can wait for some time before you get evaluated by a specialist. So long as there is absolutely no risk of pregnancy, you can wait until you are 17 or 18; cycles usually become normalized by then. Please maintain healthy diet, regular exercise and a healthy weight. Use a panty liner and do not use tampons as they can cause infection. Hope this helps.
