What Causes Lightheaded , Dizzy And Hungry All The Time?

I have been feeling very light headed and dizzy and I am also feeling hungry all of the time - I have thought for years that I am hypoglycemic but it has never been properly diagnosed. I have always been pretty level though as long as I ate right - this feeling is just not going away. I am 44. 5 foot 10 inches tall. 156 pounds and have never had any major health problems.

Hello,

You have history of hypoglycemia and presently you are feeling lightheaded and dizzy. Such symptoms are commonly due to dehydration, low blood sugar, sudden drop of blood pressure, anemia, poor general health condition, etc. Other medical conditions causing such symptoms are Meniere's disease, migraine, labyrinthitis, presyncope, etc. You are suggested to stay well hydrated, take ORS, Electoral, juice and water in plenty. Take oats meals to help your body maintain normal electrolyte balance.

Take rest so that your blood sugar and blood pressure get normal. Take home made food rich in minerals(iron, calcium, magnesium, etc.) and protein to improve your general health condition. Take adequate sleep and avoid stressful lifestyle. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT, get investigations and imaging tests done so that treatment can be started.

Feeling of hunger is commonly due to inadequate sleep, chronic stress and when the diet lacks adequate protein, fiber and fat. It may be indicative of hyperthyroidism/hypoglycemia (excessive eating), obesity, diabetes, eating disorders, etc. Do adequate exercise and walking, reduce weight if obese. Switch to healthy lifestyle.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
