hi my daught of 17 has woken us up to show us her swollen upper lip. She says it is not sore but she says she did press down hard on her lip against her teeth as there was a small pimple there. She has a high pain threashold. Could this cause the lip to swell like this. It looks like someone has punched her. I have given her a celestamine tab and she is icing it. Her throat is not swollen and nor is her face.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems more like an allergic angioedema of the lip and can be due to allergic reaction to any food or medicine.. It can also be due to lancing of the pimple causing inflammation but the chances of such an intense swelling are less.. You should give her anti-allergic medicine like levocetrizine or fexofenadine [allegra], also contine celestamine [betamethasone] and cold compresses.. She can also apply calamine lotion for preventing any inflammation of the lip it present.. Do not press or bite the lip to prevent further irritation.. Drink plenty of water..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
