Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a problem with small amounts of liquid stool leaking from my rectum. sometimes it can be 3 or 4 times a day or I may go days without it occurring. It can be worst if I am doing physical work. It is only very small amounts of liquid. I am a 49 year old male. No surgeries and no problems with constipation. Bowel movements always soft, rarely diarrhea. It started happening after I had a colonoscopy. Had the colonoscopy as I had a hemorrhoid that was bad and it then healed but the colposcopy was still done. I had one poly. Could it be sphincter damage due to the colonoscopy? Thanks

What Causes Liquid Stool Leaking From My Rectum?
Hi, Welcome to health care magic, It is actually a bowel incontinence. Bowel incontinence is the loss of bowel control, causing you to pass stool unexpectedly. This can range from sometimes leaking a small amount of stool and passing gas, to not being able to control bowel movements. The causes could be chronic constipation,Long-term laxative use,Colectomy or bowel surgery etc. Colonoscopy cant cause bowel incontinence due to use of flexible colonoscope nowadays. Take light and high fiber diet will make a bulk of stools and help to prevent it. Consult general surgeon for further advice.
