Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I am Diabetic. My Doctor has recently given me Insultard for night. Also for a TSH level 4.10, Docter gave me Levothyroxin 50 mg. As soon as I started with these, I started having loose motions- brown in color, watery and for the past 5 -6 days. Not very frequent but whenever I go it is loose. It becomes dry and bad down there. I am planning to take Norflox TZ. Please suggest if it is OK to do so. Thanks.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of diabetes and being kept on Insultard at night. Also kept on Levothyroxin 50 micro-grams for TSH of 4.10 and got the problem of loose stools, brown in color, watery but not very frequent. It becomes dry and bad down there . Planning to take Norflox TZ. As per the history the problem started the moment you were started on Levothyroxin and if it is not required as the TSH is normal can cause the loose stool and all other symptoms like you have got. I would advise you the following: First of all to stop Levothyroxine as the TSH is normal and T3 and T4 not done. Send stool for examination and see the results. If there is no infection, wait as the stoppage of Levothyroxin will control the loose motions within a few days. If the infection is present in the stool sample, then only to take Norflox TZ. Maintain good hydration and take soft bland diet.
