What Causes Loss Of Appetite After Viral Infection?
My infant, 1 yr 9 months got a bad viral infections about a month ago that lasted about 10 days. During his 7th day i noticed a drastic decrease in his appetite. His cough and cold is partially gone noe. He coughs once in a while, but his airways are clear. He is still not eating after 3 weeks - only drinks about 3 - 4 7 oz bottle of milk/cereal. Now i notice his stool today is light in color, spongy looking and smelly. I have taken him to the doctor for the loss of appetite, but they say it is just the end tail of the virus. Can this be lingering so long?
Hi...usually after a viral illness the kids might take as long as 4-6 weeks to regain the appetite. Nothing to worry about it. More important than feeding is the activity of the kid. if the kid's activity is good then you need not worry about the appetite.
