What Causes Loss Of Hearing After Taking Gentamycin Injection?

Hi, I have been diagnosed with menier s disease about two years ago.Things became worse about 3 months ago so I opted for a gentamiacin injection.this hasn t helped much so two days ago I had grommets fitted. Hearing has now worsened.is this usual after such a procedure and will my hearing improve? Many thanks for your help. Duncan

hello, thanks for your query, post gentamicin( oto toxic drug) injection hearing loss is common as such it is used to abolish the episodes of tinnitus and vertigo. meniers disease itself shows deafness. u need to be evaluated by audiometry tests and otoendoscopy to rule out any perforatio( post injection) kindly evaluate. all the best. take care.
