My 15 year old son got slapped on the face/ear last night. This morning he cant hear so well from the ear and when he holds his nose and blows he says he can feel water bubbles in the ear. Is this serious? Will it heal itself. Thank you for you answer.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems like due to trauma there has been injury to the ear drum leading to perforation and due to perforation there has been reduced hearing and feeling of water bubbles can be due to bleeding inside the ear. I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and in case if there is perforation in the ear drum he can advise you the treatment depending upon the severity of perforation.. If there is a small perforation he can advise you to take antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkillers and decongestant nasal drops.. You will also be advised to avoid exposure to large sounds and also excessive water exposure like swimming.. In case if the perforation is large that is not possible to resolve with medicines, he will advise you to get surgical treatment done..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
