What Causes Loss Of Taste After Total Knee Replacement?
Hello, I recently had a total knee replacement and since the surgery my taste buds are off. Everything taste extremely salty or just not how they should. I also feel weird and different. It s been 19 days and no change. I had a knee replacement last year and both experiences are like night and day. I can t even talk about the extreme pain without crying. Is this normal?
Hello read thru ur query.I must say that after knee replacement you will be on steroid dosage and also immunosuppresant drugs(to prevent the rejection of the newly placed knee). As a result of this your tastebuds will be weared off and also taste will be altered and can even lead to candidiasis. So I suggest you to have lots and lots of water.Have good fruits and green leafy vegetables.Do salt water gargle daily. And also apply nystatin antifungal gel on your tongue and wait for the result.Once your steroids and other drugs are finished off you will be fine as before.Hope you benefitted something from this reply.Have a healthy day!!!
