What Causes Low Blood Sugar Levels Along With Appetite Loss?
I am concerned about my 91 year old diabetic mom, living 160 miles away. Her blood sugar has been running low (56-100) and I ve already spoken to the Dr. about holding the Novolog and decreasing lantus from 20 to 15 in the AM. Her B/P today was 124/48 and pulse 65. She has a hx of A-fib and hypertension. Recently finished 7 days of Bactrim for mild cellulitis in her leg (resolving). Her appetite has been low perhaps due to the side effects of the antibiotic?? She is also taking Triamterene and Metoprolol as well as gabapentin. I m wondering if we should hold the Metoprolol and Triameterene?

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Hypoglycemia may be due to over dose of Insulin or food intake or anemia or septicemia or liver failure or cardiac failure etc.
Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.
Please consult your doctor he will examine for above causes and change the dose of Insulin (long acting) treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query.
