What Causes Low Platelet Count?

I have a low platelet count - 58 which was a retest from one that said 55. My allergist ran the test because that was the only abnormal part of my blood work. He thought it could be just my platelets are clumpy . I have no other issues - no abnormal bleeding or anything. No fatigue either. Could this be something really bad? He just wants me to follow up with my regular doctor.

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.

If you don't have any other symptoms then it can be due to platelets aggregates that happen due to sampling error. So you should repeat your platelet count after two days. If it becomes normal then nothing to worry. If it is low then you need further investigations.

Hope I have answered your question.
If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me.
I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic.

Hello welcome to the health care magic

For your low platelet count platelet clump can be ruled out by peripheral smear examination.

If you have more symptoms than not alarming investigations needed

Just regular follow up done after few days.

If you anyhow develop any other symptoms than report it immediately

Take care

Hope this will help you
