What Causes Low Testosterone Levels?

Hello, I had a complete hysterectomy approximately 6 years ago. I never took HRT because of variety of opinions on its safety. Anyway, I have had bloodwork done in the past and have been told that my testosterone levels are very low - yet I am still having electrolysis done on my face because of facial hair growth. I also have been on spirolactadone (sp?) for several years and I'm wondering why this is still happening??

Hi,Thanks for consulting at HCM.
You have a condition called hirsutism. It has several causes including ovarian, adrenal, thyroid and pituitary causes as well as drugs. We need to know if you have voice change, increase muscle mass, acne, change in sexual desire, your age. Then we will proceed for serum testosterone level,FSH,LH,Prolactin,TSH levels and DHEAS and further workup to reach at diagnosis. But if you are otherwise well since 6 years with normal labs you are better with electrolysis and topical therapy.
Hope it satisfies you.Get well soon.
