What Causes Lower Abdominal And Pelvic Pain In Woman With High Testosterone?

22 y/o female. (Non sexually active) first menses at age 10. Has been tested for std s even though has never had intercourse. Other tests inclue internal ultrasound (2 yrs ago) showing chocolate chip ovaries . Periods come every 29 days but the length varies & typically bleeds clots. At sporadic times of the month will have lower abdominal/pelvic pain (a 10 from 1-10) somewhat like a UTI feeling (crampy, buring, needing to urinate, all around bad feeling and sometimes itching but its not a UTI, STD or Yeast Infection). Usually gets better w/ rest after a couple hours but sometimes comes back again. Also been Dx w/ high testosterone. What is this pain and when will it go away!?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist better to consult a gynaecologist and plan for an ultrasound scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
