What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain Along With Diarrhoea?
my son has had lower intestine pain with diarrhea for a couple days. the diarrhea is gone but has a lot of gas and still a lot of pain in lower intestines near belt line. He said pain is very bad about every 30-45 minutes. Should I worry or is this typical of stomach virus
Hi, Abdominal pain and diarrhoea could be due to colitis, viral gastroenteritis or irritable bowel syndrome or diverticulitis. You must undergo routine blood count and electrolytes, ultrasound of abdomen and if required then colonoscopy. You will require antibiotics (quinolones or cephalosporins or antiprotozoals) with antispasmodics, antiinflammatories and prebiotics/probiotics. There will be need of fluid and electrolytes balance in the body. You must see physician or gastroenterologist for further advise.
