Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Low
pelvic pain and cramping can happen in women for many reasons. It can be related to ovulation, certain types of pelvic infections, or may not even have a gynecologic cause. Contrary to what many women believe, you cannot feel or see your ovaries as they are normally about the size of an almond and are located in the lower part of your pelvis that is covered in the front by your bladder.
Many women experience pain when they ovulate. When the egg burst from the ovary, sometimes the little spot that it came from can bleed afterwards, sort of like a pimple that pops. The bleeding can cause pain when it occurs and usually goes away by itself within 24 hours.
If you've been trying to become pregnant, meaning that you are not using birth control, and the pain you experienced is around in the middle of your cycle, you likely experience ovulation pain. If your period is late, there is a possibility that you are pregnant, as the
uterus frequently cramps as it is expanding in early
pregnancy.
So again, lower abdominal cramping may or may not be related to your reproductive organs. Gastrointestinal cramps can also cause pelvic pain, and if you are experiencing
constipation or
diarrhea, that is more likely the cause. If your menstrual cycle is late, there is a possibility you could be pregnant, so I would recommend performing an over-the-counter urine
pregnancy tests. Modern pregnancy tests are extremely effective, and will become positive within 10 days to two weeks after conception.
I hope I was able to adequately answer your question today, and that this information was helpful. Let me know if you have further queries.
