What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain Despite Taking Probiotics?

Ate out, got food poisoning or bacterial infection; dehydration led to kidney infection. Went to ER (per doctor who could not fit me in until a week later. Had very irritated colon. Was given a shot and put on Cipro for 7 days. Improved but not for long. A month later: Am eating gentle foods and taking probiotics. Still have pain in VERY LOW area of abdomen (nothing upper) and back pain. Hard to get in to see my doctor but scheduled in 5 days. Possibly need antibiotic for a few more days? I have some Amoxicillin for about 3 days. Should I try taking that?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I think that it might be a bacterial infection. I suggest you to do first a stool test to confirm the diagnosis. Meanwhile you should continue the probiotics. I also suggest you to drink liquids.

Hope my answer was helpful. If you have any other question Ill be glad to help.
