Hi. I ve had a cough for about six weeks. I completed one regimine of Doxycycline. I notived last thursday i had left lower back/flank pain i thought maybe i had pulled a muscle. Went back in Saturday and had a chest x-ray (normal) was put on five days of Zithromyacin; have completed four days. Flank pain is worse and now radiates into shoulder and left lower costal margin area Thoughts

Else no need to take antibiotic, most of the time the cough is due to allergic condition and it may not need any treatment. If this is not the infection and then antibiotic will not help at all, sometime it may be due to increased eosinophilic count (It is not the direct cause of cough but it increases due to some allergen).
