What Causes Lower Quadrant Pain?

My mother received her first infusion of Kadcyla on 2/28/18, was hospitalized with pneumonia, a UTI, and possibly septicemia, the cultures are not completed yet. They said her lactic acid level was elevated. Also she is complaining of a pretty bad r lower quadrant side pain. Is this indicative of anything that can t be handled with the current treatment of IV antibiotics she is receiving. Her Shortness of breath has worsened also. Her white blood count was higher today. from 14000 to 17000. so they are changing antibiotics.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

There are different possible reasons for lower quadrant pain as:

- Inflammation of ureter, urinary bladder as part of UTI and septicemia
- Intestine colic
- Ovary related issue
- Others

In our clinic, we recommend to undertake a CT scan of abdomen and pelvis for precise diagnosis and further management guidelines.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
