Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Lump Formation After Knee Surgery While Bending?
I had surgery on knee year ago for displaced tibial tubrical fracture. Ive noticed now when bending knee my tibia pushes out and when knee completely bent it is a huge lump and i feel the bone easily. Then when i straighten out leg it goes back into place. What could it be.
If you had a surgery for the displaced tibial fracture then post surgery this are the common lump kind of soft tissue to be felt with. But it's a bony stuff. If you have any plate and screws then it might be the case as well.
This lump formation stuff what you are feeling is nothing to bother with until it's giving any kind of abnormal physical symptoms. I will advice to take an X-ray if it's discomforting you.
Also, get complete knee range of 140° and regain the full strength in quadriceps muscle so there is no extension lag.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
