I ve been going though the last couple of weeks being more conscious of my swallowing than previously. There will be times in the day when I feel like there s a lump in my throat and when I swallow it subsides for a while. I have no pain and there s no coughing or bleeding but there is a recurring feeling of being swollen around my Adam s apple periodically. It doesn t affect my singing as of yet and I can breathe normally but I ve never had this before for this long a time and I m just wondering what it is. Please let me know what you think. I would appreciate a professional opinion because I automatically start fearing the worst.
Hi. Thanks for your query. If you are a female patient the chances of this problem being globus pharyngeus are the most probable. But to prove this I would advise you the following::: -Laryngo-pharyngoscpy by an NET Surgeon to ascertain about the real presence of any pathologic lump / swelling. -MRI of the neck to see that there is any growth / mass or any other abnormality.
If the above tests are normal, it is obvious that the stress and anxiety have taken a toll to give you these symptoms; you can swallow, sing well, there are no other symptoms , why to worry about cancer so much, there may not be any,
