General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

First of all do not be scared. From your description the lump is benign soft tissues lesion. The pain indicates some inflammation. If the lump is close to the butt crack, most probable reason if this lump is pilonidal cyst. This condition is caused by ingrown hair which irritates the tissues and leads to inflammation.
If its located in other part of butt, hair follicle inflammation or sebaceous cyst can be the case.
The best she can do is to consult general surgeon. In case of any doubts, soft tissues ultrasound can be done.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
