What Causes Lump On The Ankle After Knee Injury?

Hi I fell about a week ago; I was treated for a knee injury and my foot/ankle has always been sore since but just recently I m noticing a lump under my skin where my foot and ankle meet at the top. It s slightly bruised, makes it hurt to walk, and is painful as well as burns to touch it. Any idea what it could be and if it needs to be looked at or just have some extra healing time?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to the magical world of health care,
I went through your query, and your concerns are valid.
it looks like this is a blood collection, and getting it aspirated would be the right idea, that will not only remove it but will also clear all doubts on the nature of the swelling.
I hope my advice would have been useful, in decision making regarding your treatment, still if you have any clarifications or doubts feel free to contact back.
Thanks.
