I had arthroscopy on my right knee almost 3 weeks ago due to torn meniscus. Within a week after the the surgery, I noticed a lump about the size of a walnut under one of the incisions. It doesn t move, is fairly firm, but I can depress it a bit with my finger. There is no pain associated with it. Should I have it checked out, or is it normal?
Such lump close to incision is most likely a blood collection (hematoma). If such collection is large enough, wont go away by itself. That is why I suggest you to consult orthopedist. Ultrasound should be done and hematoma drained.
Hope this will help. Regards.
