I had an IV inserted in my wrist this afternoon in the ambulance on the way to the ER! They used the IV site to inject anti-nausea meds, and give me fluids, nothing else! Now that the IV has been removed for about 2 hours I ve noticed a small hard lump at the site! What does this mean?
HI. The vein is very thin and can easily rupture. While injecting in or when the cannula is removed a small amount of blood extravasates (comes) out of the puncture site to cause a small lump. This will resolve on its own , Please do not worry about it.
