My 2yr old boy has 2 lumps a little bigger than a pea behind his right ear that doesnt seem to be bothering him at all but i was concerned. He had a bit of a fever yesterday(100.7) and woke up this morning fine and has been very lively all day without any problems. should i be worried?
Hi..the small lumps you are observing could be lymph node swelling and a pea size in that area is insignificant. Nothing to worry about it.
Fever of few days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably viral illness and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active.
