Hi Dr Grief. My 9 year old son has broken out in large hard lumps that originally looked like bites but are now more papular. They are centralised only on the outside of his elbows, knees, and a couple of smaller ones on his fingers. Both my local pharmacist and our doctor have suggested insect bites, bed bugs was mentioned by both, but they have been coming up for over a week now even after I ve done all the recommended room/bedding treatments. I fail to believe the same elbow/knee loving bug is just munching on those targeted area and avoiding all other body parts?? Any suggestions outside the square? Thanks :-)
I have read your query. I would like to know are there fresh lesions appearing? Are they painful and itching? From the given information, i feel it could be bug bite.
You must be careful if there are signs of fever, respiratory or any other disturbance, otherwise you may not worry. Wait and watch for any other signs.
