I asked this question a couple of weeks ago on this or a similar site and paid the $9.95 fee charged. The doctor was very nice but unable to answer my question for lack of knowledge on this subject. She said I should make an appointment with my dermatologist, and if I couldn t see him right away, I should go to an Urgent Care. I was able to see my dermatologist s PA that day who said he didn t know anything about parasites and should do some research. Then he seemed to imply that it s all in my head (even after I showed him a picture of the raised worms under my skin and explained the crawling, etc.) He said the pictures were scratches (although 2 were between my shoulder blades where I can t even reach to scratch ; plus, scratches underneath clothing wouldn t even resemble what I showed him). He also said they could be nerves , but was adamant about them being scratches and was insulted that I didn t agree with him. Therefore, I went immediately to an Urgent Care as was suggested. The doctor there sent me to a hospital ER. The ER doctor was a cardiologist who said he wasn t knowledgeable about parasites, but after making a phone call to another doctor, he asked if I had been overseas or in a 3rd world country, or if I have dogs or cats, etc. He didn t have answers except to say that I should see an epidemiologist or infectious disease specialist, and he gave me a prescription for Albenza 200 mg with a very strong warning of serious side effects and left the decision to me as to whether or not I wanted to take it. I filled the prescription, but am very afraid to use it if I can do something safer . I have tried to get an appointment with an epidemiologist but haven t been able to yet. I have excellent personal hygiene, and I rarely eat beef, pork, etc. and never eat meat that isn t well done so I have no idea how I could have gotten this unless it could have been from my planting flowers and there was something in the dirt. I have been dealing with this since June 19th. If there is an epidemiologist or infectious disease physician or another physician available who can hopefully identify the type of worms I have, and if there is a way to safely rid myself of this problem (with or without Albenza), I would like to continue with this conversation if the fee is one that I can afford. Thanking you, I am Mrs. Smith
