Dear Madam,

Most of the time mass in the uterus at this age in unmarried girls is the Fibromyoma of the uterus or the Ademnomyosis.

Fibromyoma (Leomyoma) of the Uterus is a non-cancerous tumour arising from the uterine muscles. Gradually it grows in size. It can be removed by a surgery called as Myomectomy. This is a major surgery. Fibroids are usually removed after the age of 30 as the new seedlings keep on appearing till that age. These tumours are removed if they are troublesome (usually they are). There is a small possibility of these tumours turning into cancer in later age groups. 30% of cases with fibroids may have cancer of the uterine lining. Usually the menstruation with fibroids is heavy and painful.

Adenomyosis is growth of the uterine lining inside the musculature of the uterus. Therefore every time during menstruation, there is pain in the abdomen. If pregnancy is not desired, it can be treated by removal of the uterus. Its response to medicines is not promising. Pregnancy itself is a good treatment for this condition. Otherwise, oral birth control pills may be given to simulate condition like pregnancy.

In both cases, small tumours without any problem may be observed conservatively.

I hope this helps you.
