Hi Dr...Good Morning The case is of my father aged 75 years. He is having multiple problems like Diabetics , HTN, Cholesterol ... and taking medicine since many years ( 15- 20 years). Recently, ( since two months) he is having memory problems. He will answer correctly to our questions. But he is not asking any questions to us. Kindly advise
Hello Thank you for your question to HCM. I understand your concern. Let me try and explain.
Your father seems to be having problems with cognition (thinking). The most common causes for such conditions are Dementia, stroke, Depression etc. i think he needs to consult a neurologist for a formal cognitive assessment as well as a complete neurological examination. He will also need to do imaging tests such as MRI Brain to identify the cause of this problem. He may also require some blood tests such as thyroid function tests and Serum B12 level to rule out reversible causes of dementia.
Hope this information is helpful. Take care
