What Causes Metallic Smell In Urine?

My urine frequently smells metallic, it is never uncomfortable when I urinate, and I urinate regularly throughout the day. I have had a history of kidney infections, but I typically never have any pain with these--they are found by accident. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. It is due to increase ammonia.
2. Possibly due to infection or concentrated urine. Take plenty of water, stay adequately hydrated and see if the smell persists.
3. If it persists, get urine microscopy done for evaluation of urine infection. Also avoid high protein diet, which can cause increased nitrogen and hence ammonia.
4. Also take cranberry and blue berry juice with adequate hydration. They help you protect against urine infection.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again
