Hello,
Mid-cycle bleeding occurs commonly due to
hormonal imbalance, contraceptives taken, infection, injury, fibroid,
endometriosis, etc. However, if you had unprotected sex and were not on regular contraceptives and did not take emergency contraceptive pills, you may be at risk of
pregnancy. Get clinically examined by a gynecologist, get per vaginal examination done. Get urine tests for pregnancy done.
Your gynecologist may require you to get done USG (Uterus and fallopian tubes) to confirm ectopic pregnancy or pregnancy. If it is pregnancy, you will be managed accordingly. If it is other medical condition or underlying disease (
thyroid, PID, etc.) that is causing you symptoms, you will be treated accordingly.
You can take
acetaminophen, one stat when needed to get rid of headache. Take antihistamine at bedtime to get relief from cough. Keep cough lozenges in your mouth. Keep yourself well hydrated with water and fluids. Dry throat triggers cough. Use a room humidifier.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
