What Causes Migraines And Anxiety During Menstruation?

When I m on my period or just before im due I feel really tired got really bad migrains feel like I am about to faint. It gets so bad that I can t even leave the house, I also have really bad mood swings. I have anxiety attacks sometimes and I m getting really worried . I bleed so heavely that even with night pads I leak .. Must people tell me it s my iron levels but I don t know :( I feel so depressed .

Hello dear,
I understand your concern.Migraine is commonly associated with menstrual cycle.When migraine occurs from -3 days to + 3 days of menstrual cycle,it is called 'True menstrual migraine'.It is due to the estrogen withdrawl during the menses,that migraine is precipitated.

Management is almost similar to normal migraine.Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and Triptans are beneficial.Tricyclic antidepressants can be used for prophylaxis.Please visit your physician to start the medicines that best suit you.I hope it helps.
