The most common cause of head tremor in an otherwise, healthy individual with probable arthritic degenerative disease in the shoulders and neck would be something called BENIGN ESSENTIAL TREMOR. Though hand tremors generally manifest prior to the noticing of head tremors or even bobbing when it becomes more noticeable...this does not have to always be the case. There are ways of detecting very subtle tremor of the hands though no one else seems to be aware of its presence. It is a very common condition and can be easily treated OR IN THIS CASE...I d probably recommend IGNORING IT in trade for some watchful waiting until it becomes NECESSARY to treat since you don t seem to be having any disabling features occurring. P.S. I would not let anyone make a convincing argument to you that this is the beginning of PARKINSON S DISEASE since that is the most common misdiagnosis I get from both patients and physicians alike when sending folks with mild head movements....UNLESS- UNLESS, that person is willing to pay next month s mortgage to you on your Florida condo. If not, then, don t buy their opinion. Your description of the problem puts PD so far down the list of possibilities that I would have to say it more likely for Oranges to go out of style in Florida before you ever get diagnosed by a reputable neurologist with PD given a presenting symptom of subtle head tremor before everything else.
