What Causes Miscarriage After Using Clotrimazole Cream?
i took clotrimazole vaginal cream while 12 weeks pregnant after being told by the Nurse Practitioner I had a yeast infection and was perscribed this cream. 2 days after taking the cream I had a miscarriage could this cream have caused the miscarriage?
Hello dear Understand your concern Clotrimazole cream does not cause miscarriage. As you applied locally there is no chance of absorption in systemic circulation and that affect the fetus. Only one case is reported about miscarriage but after using oral clotrimazole. You should investigate another causes of miscarriage like chromosomal disorder in one or both partner, diabetes, thyroid problem, auto immune disorder like SLE and dermatomyosis, anti phospholipid antibody syndrome, cervical incompetence, unknown cause (40-45 percent case), TORCH infections. You need following investigations like: karyotyping, blood sugar, USG, serology for TORCH infections, CBC, ESR, APLA, PT, APTT, various antibodies for auto immune disorder Hope this may help you Best regards Dr. Sagar
