What Causes Missed Period After Having Intercourse?

Hi... I m 16 years old, and I only lost my virginity about 3 weeks ago, but I haven t had a period since about the middle of May in 2013. I am PMSing like I should start it soon and sometimes cramp up like I should. The only thing I have had were a few spotty light bleeding patches. So I m miserable and actually miss my period. I m not on birth control or any other medication. Please help! My mom already knows but we have not had a chance to make a doctors appt but I would really like just a bit of clarity if you can help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello ma'am and welcome.

There are 4 possibilities based on your description:
1. Normal physiological response to the first sexual intercourse

2. Infections

3. Stress

4. Pregnancy

Either way, I would recommend you to either wait till you have to expect your next cycle or conduct ahome pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy. And once this has been done, visit your doctor to consider other causes.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
