What Causes Missed Period Despite Having Nordette Post Unprotected Sex?

Good day doc! I would like to ask for some clarifications with what is bothering me now. I had my last period on october 23 and i think it ended on october 27. November 8 around 10pm i had an unprotected sex up until around 7am the next day. I learned about Nordette and took it on November 9 at around 8pm (4white pills not the orange ones as what others are saying) and then took another 4 pills after 12 hours. I havey regular cycle and never experience missing a month for my period. So, i think im supossed to have my period around November 20 this month or at least within that week. It is already December 1 and I still don t have my menstruation. I am really really worried now. Is there a chance that I am pregnant or was it still the effect of the pill?? I hope you can explain as to why too. I hope to receive your kind reply and sorry for a very long message. God bless and more power.

Hello,
You had the intercourse during your fertile period and hence the chances of conception are high. The color of the pills containing the hormone may vary with each preparation, but, what is essential is that you should take the hormone pills and not the plain ones. Nordette may not be very effective as emergency contraception as against regular contraception and also against the usual emergency pills. Abnormal menstrual pattern is to be expected after hormone intake. Please see a specialist for a proper appraisal and further management. Take care.
