What Causes Missed Period Despite Taking Althea Pills?

Good afternoon DoctorsI am using Althea Pill for the last 21 Days, I started using this last July 6. And I am on my 7 days free, but I don t have mens yet, I will be taking the Althea Pill on Sunday night, August 2,2015 but I really bothered of not having a mens yet. What should I do? Thanks...

Hello there, thanks for your query.
Usually it should not be bothersome to not have periods if you haven't missed even a single tablet of the course. This can rarely happen. But do check if you happen to take any other medication during these 21 days. Some antibiotics or some drugs used for the treatment of gastritis taken along with the pill causes failure of contraception and there is a possibility that you may ovulate and get pregnant. If that is the case then I suggest you to take a urine pregnancy test following your missed period. If it is negative do restart your pills and there is nothing to worry. But if you altogether stop your periods then do see your doctor for further evaluation. Hope this helps. Take care.
