What Causes Missed Periods, Sore Breast And Brown Discharge With Negative HPT?
7 days late for my period. Had sore boobs the week before but it stopped earlier this week. Started having some brown discharge sometimes light red only when I wipe after using the restroom. Never been this late. Usually 28 days. Tested negative with an HPT. What's going on?
There are different possible causes for period delay. The most common of course is pregnancy. Pregnancy tests are accurate if done 11 to 14 days after possible conception. You can consider repeating it to ensure the result is correct.
The other causes, if pregnancy is definitively ruled out are: (1) emotional or physical stress or illness (2)inadequate diet (3)abnormal levels of thyroid hormone (4)extreme physical activity (5) high levels of a hormone called prolactin (6)polycystic ovarian syndrome
If the pregnancy test is conclusively negative, your doctor may assess for the above via history, examination and blood tests. Imaging such as ultrasound may also be needed.
I hope this helps
