What Causes Missing Periods Even After Medication?

I missed my periods last month i took merate for 5 days no periods came another gynaec told me to take Primolut n for 5 days while taking I had spotting for 3 days and after taking it for 5 days I am getting brown discharge from 3 days but no sign of periods.....I am confused
