I have a 12 yr. old daughter who had 2 moles removed 2 months ago. One was on her OD, lower eyelid, with an eyelash coming thru the middle of the mole. The other mole was OD, between her lacrimal caruncle and her eyebrow. Both came back benign. Her dad has a recent history of melanoma (from a mole on his posterior, upper, right shoulder) which is why she had a mole check with a dermatologist, who sent her to an ophthalmologist to have lesions removed. I just noticed a new, brown, small ( 2mm) round mole on OS, right below her eyelashes, distally. We are all light skin, blonde, blue eye, with lots of moles. (Our 8 yr. old daughter is also getting a mole under her OD lashes removed in 2 weeks, under general anesthesia.) Should I be concerned? What is the significance with having a mole close to the eye? She had general anesthesia with the other lesion removals, so is it necessary to have this lesion removed also?
