What Causes More Calcium Deposit In Abdomen Of The Fetus?
My wife is 17 weeks pregnant. We just heard from her doctors that the baby has a calcium deposit in it's abdomen and that she needs to go back for another, more detailed ultrasound. My question is what should our concerns be? And how concerned should we be?
Hi, I have gone through your question. Calcification in the fetal abdomen can be due to 1. TORCH infection ( toxoplasmosis, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus and Herpes) 2. Meconium peritonitis 3. Bowel perforation 4.Rarely chromosomal anomaly in fetus I would suggest you to consult a fetal medicine specialist so that proper investigations ( detailed anomaly ultrasound and amniocentesis if needed ) can be done and further management should be done accordingly. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health.
