What Causes Mucus Build Up In Throat?

Hi..I have a lot of mucus draining to the back of my throat, and sometimes when the mucus builds up I get these really sharp pains in my throat when I breathe in..sometimes it's to the right side of my throat, sometimes it's to the left and then other times the sharp pain is right in the middle, is it cancer.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of mucus buildup in throat which means you are suffering from condition known as throat infection due to infection by steep and respiratory tract infection. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take nasal decongestant sprays, antihistamines and antibiotic combination as infection is present. You should take steam inhalation. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. Go for throat swab test done and blood test as well to find out proper diagnosis and start treatment accordingly. Do warm saline gargles. You should take plenty of liquids. Maintain proper oral hygiene.
