Hi, I have noticed for some time now that when i wipe after having a bowel motion i have sticky mucus. I have had a period of diarrhoea that has now subsided, I ve had all the tests done and results came back fine. The mucus is bothering me and i don t know why its still there????
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Sticky mucus on wiping on passing stool is due to the following reasons: Procto-colitis and this can be found out by the following: Get the stool tests for three consecutive days. Consult a General surgeon for per-rectal digital examination and proctoscopy. Get an appointment for colonoscopy and biopsy. Clinical evaluation and a course of an antibiotic, metronidazole and probiotics may help. Further management as needed id needed if there is no response to the medicines.
