What Causes Muscle Discomfort While On Azasite Eye Drops?

Ophthalmologist applied 1st drop Azasite on closed Rt. eye at base of eyelashes today for eye infection not responding to Polymixin. Hour or so began feeling tenseness in all muscles. Later some mild itching in eye, then all over. Last night I had taken Clariton 10 mg & Zantac 150mg. I have many allergies, especially to antibiotics. Tense muscles better, not gone quite, but some itching yet. Supposed to apply Azasite drop same route 3 times a day. Does it seem wise to use Azasite again now?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I would advise you to stop that medicine. Most probably you do have an allergy. Fluoroquinolones eye drops are most commonly used today for infection and I would advise you one if you don't have allergy to them.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Harshita
