What Causes Muscle Disease?

hi i wanted to know what a muscle disease is and what side efffect does it have on a person while on medication? i have a friend who has a boyfriend who says he has a muscle disease and everytime he takes his medication he doesnt know who he is and tend to get very abusive around people..i would really appreciate it if you get back to this question asap thanks!
