What Causes Muscle Soreness While On Levothyroxine?

I have been on levothyroxine 50 mcg per day for 18 days. 60 years old no other meds except prempro, hormone replacement. Excellent health.first time diagnosed with hypothyroid. 2 days ago I began feeling light headed, arm muscle soreness, mild anexity and some shortness of breath. Is my system getting used to the medication? Am traveling so not able to see a dr for awhile.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

What the symptoms you have described here could be due to thyroid disease and it will take some time to come around even after starting the proper medicine so be patience and low down the stress stop worrying, it is not the medicine causes the symptoms but thyroid dysfunction it self causing these.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
