What Causes Muscle Spasms In The Neck And Legs While On Pravastatin?

I am having muscle spasms in my neck and was suffering from muscle cramps in my legs. My primary physician told me to stop taking prevastatin for a month and see if they stopped. I did and they did. Now I am taking it again and having spasms in my neck which I did not have while off the med. is this a serious side effect?

Hi,

Muscle pain, weakness, spasm, tenderness, extreme fatigue are most common side effects. It is not serious but troublesome for few. This is one of reasons it is taken at bedtime other being the fact that our body produce more cholesterol at night. Meet your doctor to alter the dose.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ajeet Singh,
