What Causes Muscle Wasting In The Upper Side Of Hand?

I have had Duputrens contractures for the last 15 years. Hand surgeon mentioned recently when evaluating my right hand, that the upper side of my hand shows muscle wasting esp. between ring & small finger. He also related that it usually comes from an issue in the elbow. I am not aware of an issue with the elbow, but do have significant pain in the shoulder with certain movements, esp raising my arm behind my head. the tendons on the front & side of my arm are almost always sore from shoulder to elbow.

After going through your query I concluded that you are having frozen shoulder and dupeytrens contracture of the hands and suspected ulnar nerve palsy. Treatment of frozen shoulder is mobilization exercises of shoulder. Analgesic such as ibuprofen is required for pain relief and to facilitate exercises. Treatment of dupeytrens contracture is stretching exercises. If exercises are not successful then surgery can be done. You can discuss with your Doctor about it. Hope your query get answered.
