What Causes Myopathy?

I'm told that I have an eye "condition" something called myopothy? Even though I wear eyeglasses for distance, I still cannot see exit signs for example on the highway until I am almost up to them. The Dr. says it's like my eye has a dirty screen in front of it when I look out.
Is this the same as the deep cornea I've been reading about?
