My 5 year old daughter has had a sore inside her nasal passage, it has yellow discharge, inside her nose appears red raw with inflammation. The other nostril has some kind of growth from the side coming towards the airways which has caused her appearance of her airways to become narrowed, GP precribed naseptin antibiotic crream and amoxycillin suspension which both didnt work. ENT doctor diagnosed nasal crust and advised sterimar( nasal spray with salty water) but its not working, the smelly discharge still exist and the inflammation and growths is worsening I would like a second opinion please. i can attach photos if required. Thank you
Yellow discharge from nose suggest infection and you will have to complete atleast 5 days course of antibiotics. Nasal irrigation with normal saline drops prevent crusting. Frequent steam inhalation also reduces nasal dryness. Avoid exposure to dust, dry air, moulds, hay etc. Apart from nasal drops, ointments and antibiotics adding oral decongestant will be beneficial.
